This 60-second video animation reveals how Aprehend’s powerful biopesticide works to eliminate and prevent bed bug infestations.
Aprehend®, a natural bio-pesticide is fungal-based. Its powerful oil formulation infects bed bugs when they cross an invisible barrier and pick up the spores.
Bed Bugs act as carriers and transfer the spores to other bed bugs. The Aprehend® fungal-based solution germinates and penetrates the bed bug blood system within 24 hours, and infected bed bugs die within four to ten days.
Bed bug behavior is often described as cryptic because their time is spent hiding in hard-to-spot cracks and crevices, thus evading detection and disruption.
Aprehend® is an effective natural solution proven to rid and protect your home from evasive and hard-to-detect bed bug infestations.
Bed bugs are bothersome creatures and typically feed between midnight and 5 AM (when most people are in bed sleeping). Feeding lasts about 5 to 10 minutes. Once full they quickly aggregate (gather into a mass) in inconspicuous areas of your bedroom or home. They feed every 3 to 7 days, meaning that most of the population does not eat but digests their blood meal while hiding.
This interactive illustration (below) provides clickable green bed bug buttons that help you understand where bed bugs might hide throughout your home.
BED SHEETS:
Bed bugs love feeding on human blood, and prefer to stay close to their food source. Therefore, bed bugs are inclined to hide in the folds and seams of bed sheets.
UPHOLSTERY BUTTONS AND SEAMS:
Furniture and mattress upholstery provide tight spaces for bed bugs to hide and easily access their sleeping host.
BED FRAMES:
Bed Bugs hide in the joints and crevices of bed frames. They especially like wooden frames, and can quickly move from the bed frame to the mattress when a slumbering host is nearby.
BEHIND HEADBOARDS:
Bed Bugs like to digest their food and hide behind headboards. If attached to the wall, headboards can provide a continuous hiding space from the bed to the wall, providing quick access to their human food source.
AROUND SKIRTING BOARDS:
Bed skirts and boards are areas often overlooked and provide a perfect hiding spot for bed bugs to hide undetected.
Carpet Edges::
Carpet fibers and the edges of where the carpet meets the wall are common hiding spots for bed bugs.
Curtain Drapes::
Folds and curtain pleats, especially heavy or thick drapery are choice hiding spots for bed bugs. If close to the bed, these pests can detect if a host is in the room.
Aprehend® is a proactive biological bed bug control solution. Particularly suitable for short-term rental properties, hotels, motels, and high-traffic commercial properties.
Bed bugs pose an increasing challenge for property managers, public housing directors, and healthcare/hospitality professionals across all sectors. These pests can quickly latch onto bags and clothing, making prevention of their introduction into facilities that serve the public quite challenging. Their knack for hiding in tiny cracks and crevices makes early detection difficult, even for the most detail-oriented housekeeping staff.

Aprehend®’s active ingredient is the natural fungus Beauveria bassiana, which is harmless to humans and animals, but targets insects. This fungus has been utilized in agriculture and horticulture for years to manage pest insects, now it’s specifically formulated in Aprehend® to combat bed bugs.
Beauveria is a natural insect pathogen, infecting its host through direct contact. Once infected, a bed bug can infect other bed bugs. Aprehend® contains Beauveria’s microscopic spores, or conidia, which adhere to the insect’s cuticle and germinate, penetrating the insect’s blood system. The fungus then feeds on the insect’s blood, causing death within 3-7 days in bed bugs.
Aprehend® stands out due to its unique, ready-to-use formulation containing a special blend of oils. These oils allow the Beauveria spores to adhere to surfaces until a bed bug encounters them. This formula remains effective even in low humidity conditions, and the spores only germinate upon contact with a bed bug. This mechanism ensures Aprehend®’s effectiveness for up to 3 months after application.
No, Beauveria spores specifically target bed bugs and will not infect humans or pets. The formulation is designed to stick the conidia to the surface where they are applied, and will not remain airborne after the spray application. Aprehend’s® formulation is a non-toxic mode of action.
No, it’s not necessary to spray bed bugs directly with Aprehend®. Its design allows for 2″ wide barriers to be sprayed around furniture and beds. When bed bugs cross these barriers, the conidia adheres to their cuticle, initiating the infection process.
No. Not only is Aprehend® odorless, but it does not leave a visible residue on most surfaces.
In most cases, no, but visibility depends on the type of paint surface (semi-gloss/gloss). Occasionally, the Aprehend® spray line can be seen under certain lighting conditions. Disinfectant wipes or a kitchen spray solution wiped with a paper towel can easily remove the evidence of an of Aprehend® application.
However, Aprehend’s spray barrier should be left alone until the bed bug infestation is completely eliminated.
Aprehend® starts working immediately upon spraying and remains effective for up to 3 months. Bed bugs that cross the spray barrier pick up conidia, which germinate within 24 hours, leading to death in 3-7 days. Those in harborages may also be infected, and all bed bugs should be eliminated within 3 months, assuming a typical infestation level. Complete eradication may take 4-8 weeks, depending on the infestation’s severity and bed bug activity.
Aprehend® spray barriers remain active for up to 3 months if the application is not cleaned or disturbed. This means that any bed bug crossing the barrier, even 12 weeks after treatment can pick up the conidia and go on to die. Spray barriers should be applied to areas not exposed to frequent human contact or sunlight. Application is most effective when the sprayed areas are left alone (no wiping or cleaning) until the infestation is eliminated.
No, Aprehend® is only supplied to Licensed Pest Controllers like All About Bugs. Application of Aprehend® requires professional spray equipment specific to the Aprehend® Bed Bug Solution. It cannot be applied with standard ‘high volume’ sprayers.
